NOTICE TO CNG & LNG LICENSEES: RRC Adopts Amendments to Regulations for Compressed Natural Gas and Liquified Natural Gas

February 09, 2023

On January 18, 2023, the Railroad Commission of Texas (RRC) adopted amendments to 16 Texas Administrative Code (TAC), Chapter 13, relating to Regulations for Compressed Natural Gas [CNG], and Chapter 14, relating to Regulations for Liquified Natural Gas [LNG]. Most of the amendments are effective on February 7, 2023.

The amended and new rules were adopted to incorporate provisions of Senate Bill 1582 (87th Legislature, Regular Session), and other updates. Senate Bill 1582 amended Natural Resources Code §116.034 to allow required certification examinations to be performed by a proctoring service.

In conjunction with the adopted rules, the RRC has also amended four forms and adopted six new forms related to 16 TAC Chapters 13 and 14.
